This guide explains how to change the display language in the admin interface of your D-LINK DSL-5300. Switching the interface language can make it easier to find settings, understand features, and avoid mistakes—especially when configuring Wi-Fi, internet (PPPoE), security, or parental controls.
What Changes When You Switch Language?

- Only the interface language changes (menus, labels, buttons, and help text). Your internet connection settings, Wi-Fi name (SSID), password, and other configurations remain the same.
- Most DSL-5300 firmware versions apply the language change immediately, but some may reload the page or require you to log in again.
Before You Start

- Stay connected to the router: Use a device connected to the DSL-5300 via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. A wired connection is safer if you’re also changing other settings.
- Know the admin credentials: You must log in to the router’s admin page to change the interface language.
- Use a modern browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari generally work best with router admin panels.
Change Language on D-LINK DSL-5300

- Log in to your router admin page.
Open your web browser and go to your router’s management address (commonly 192.168.0.1, or use the address printed on the router label). Enter your admin username and password to sign in.
Tip: If the page won’t load, confirm you are connected to the DSL-5300 network and try again. - Find the language selector at the top of the page.
After logging in, look at the top header area of the admin interface. Many D-Link interfaces show a language dropdown/checkbox near the top-right or top-left corner.
You should see the name of the current language (for example: English). - Open the language list.
Click the language selector (it may appear as a dropdown, a checkbox, or a small menu). A list of available languages should appear.
Note: The number of available languages depends on the firmware version and region. - Select your preferred language.
From the list, click the language you want to use. The interface should change immediately or after a short page refresh.
If the router asks to confirm: Choose OK / Apply and wait for the page to reload. - Confirm the language change.
Check that menu names and buttons have updated to your selected language. If the interface did not change, refresh the page once or log out and log back in. - Perfect! You have successfully changed the language on your D-LINK DSL-5300.
If You Can’t Find the Language Option
- Look in System / Maintenance / Management menus: Some firmware versions place language settings under System, Administration, or Tools.
- Try switching to “Classic” view: If the interface has Basic/Advanced or Classic/Modern layouts, the language selector may move.
- Check you are fully logged in: Some routers only show the language selector after authentication.
Troubleshooting
- The page reloads but language doesn’t change: Clear browser cache or try a different browser.
- I changed language and now I can’t find menus: Use the same top language selector to switch back to your preferred language. If you’re stuck, take note of the menu position before switching (for example, “third tab”).
- Language keeps resetting after reboot: Make sure you clicked Save/Apply. If it still resets, update firmware (if available) or do a configuration backup and reapply settings.
Helpful Tip
If you’re changing language only to follow a guide written in another language, you can temporarily switch the interface language, complete the configuration, then switch back—this won’t affect your internet or Wi-Fi settings.
